چکیده
The overall goal of this project is to develop a nationally prominent research program in the area of dense nonaqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) contaminant behavior and soil and ground water remediation. The Principal Investigator already has made original contributions to DNAPL research and Tulane University has expressed interest and support for further developing this important area of research. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is building a nationally recognized teaching and research program in environmental engineering. The program recently was evaluated by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the Department received ABET accreditation in the year 2000. To assist the Principal Investigator with his research, the PI has been allocated a research laboratory and new analytical equipment in the Environmental Sciences Building in December 1999.
